Mamma-a-a-a-ah! Green Nose Freshmen

Blind Beauty Ah - so!

An appropriate date, Friday the 13th, was the fatal day in September for the green
Freshmen of SHS. At this time, the notoriously terrible Seniors swooped down on the low-
ly Freshmen and the inevitable occurred - initiation,

Though outlandish dress was not in order during the day, it was quite a sight to see
gaudy green noses on a background of flushed faces of "tortured" Freshmen,

At 6:30 the Freshmen gathered at the gymnasium dressed in full fashion for a masquer-
ade party with an array of accessories ranging from baby bottles to Christmas ribbons and
necklaces of onion and garlic.

Tme to the Freshmen's worst fears, Friday night was the time of agony and ridicule.
Limberger cheese, eggs and blood pudding appeared on the scene and before the evening
was over, every Freshman had his fill of the "goodies, "

Immediately after the initiation "ceremony" a dance was held in the gym. Though
the Freshmen had rejoined the ranks of humanity they still were discriminated by a slightly
noticeable odor.

The Tiger's 1963 football season ended 3-4, in
the newly formed MaNe league. Competition was
stiff in the new league, and the Tigers put out a large
amount of effort, both on the practice field and in
competition.
Three seniors, David Alvis, Howard Dunn, and
Jim Duryea, saw the last of action this year, and the
others on the squad hope the knowledge acquired this
year will help them show prowess as a football club

The Beginning - The start of a race
in which each of the participants
gives his all - to the honor of his
coach, his school, and himself.

Next, a relay, in which the seconds
taken in the handoff might mean
victory or defeat.

Victory - Being first to break a ribbon means
so much, not only to the winner of that par-
ticular race, but also to the other members
of the squad and to the coach,

The end of a race - the only feeling
being fatigue. Whether winning or

losing, it's always there to greet the
runner at the end of his "road. "

PTUTTIES

The Seniors of 1964 were the

honored guests of the Junior class
on the evening of May 9 at 6:45
P.M, At this time a banquet in
honor of the seniors was held and a
dance followed at 9 o'clock in the

evening.

The theme "Candyland" was carried out in the decoration
of the gymnasium. Multicolored crepe paper hung from ceil-
ing to floor made the walls of "Candyland" and a miniature
stage boasted a huge clock signifying “Sugar Time," The
Good Ship Lollipop served as a centerpiece and a Sugar Shack
stood in one comer. Both decorations also served as centers
for picture taking.

Candycanes and Lollipops were scattered and many were
taken home for souvenirs.

Entertainment and dance music were furnished by the
PJ's, a girls trio, and the dance band of Falls City, Nebraska
High School.

The seniors wish to thank the Junior Class again for the
lovely evening.
